How to Send Mail

Send mail/packages to:

Michael Beals
Peace Corps Trainee
01 BP 6031
Ouagadougou 01
Burkina Faso, West Africa

Here is some info that I've taken from another blog:

USPS only!

Many current volunteers successfully receive intact packages by having the senders do the following:
Write: "Dieu vous regarde." (God is watching you.)
Write: "Que Dieu vous bénisse." (May God bless you.)
Draw a cross on the package.

For customs purposes, everything can be considered "educational materials."

  1. Mikey, send me the list of items you may be running out. I know you've gone only for 5 days. Want to hear about everything. Post soon. Love mom. p.s. I will follow the instructions so the package doesn't get lost.

  2. Cathy and I say, "Hi, Michael". Loved your first blog..so interesting and informative. Sounds like you're adjusting and glad you have your own bath steps away! Other than a beautiful and creative succulent garden your dad and I planted in my back yard, life carries on as usual...nothing as adventuresome as yours. XO Gma and Cathy

  3. Hi Miguel- I hope this message finds you- Happy Birthday from all of us- Cathy, Fernando, Andrew, Lauren, Alli and Robbie. I had to smile at your teaching English to 60 7th and 8th graders. I bet that wasn't something you had anticipated! Sounds like you made it work and are embracing what comes your way. Hope you are doing as well as you sound, we miss you and G would want to wish you a HBD as well. Things here are good, Andrew and Alli got engaged and Lauren got a dog. xoxo form all of us!

  4. It's your B-day!!! Happy, happy, happy! Hope you're celebrating...Burkina style. We all anticipate your blogs; they are "eye-openers." This last one about your teaching English to a class of 60 middle-schoolers recalled my past teaching experience.....and I chuckled. It can be daunting at first, but you are to be applauded for meeting the challenge. Love, G

  5. Michael, I just accepted my invitation to serve in Burkina Faso as a CED volunteer. I'm excited to be there and doing the work, but I'm also curious as to what exactly I'm going to get myself into, haha. I leave in Jun 2016, so chances are I might actually get to meet you in person. I'm wondering if you could tell me a little more about your living situation and any advice you might have for me. Thanks!
